1 Kings –
1:9 – One of David’s sons, Adonijah, calls the people to him, to crown him as the next king after David. David is old at this point and not fully aware of what has happened.
1:10 – Adonijah does not call the generals and prophets that are loyal to David to his celebration.
1:19 – Bathsheba is telling King David what is going on with Adonijah. And recounting that those loyal to David were not invited.
1:25 – Nathan the prophet is recounting the same event to David.
1:26 – He names those loyal to David that were not called by Adonijah.
1:28 – David calls Bathsheba to him to verify the promise that he swore to her years ago. That her son, Solomon would sit on his throne.
1:32 – David calls those loyal to him. He has them appoint Solomon as king.
2:36 – Solomon tells Shimei, who cursed David, to build a house in Jerusalem and to stay within the city. If Shimei leaves the city, his life will be on his own head.
2:42 – Shimei leaves Jerusalem, and Solomon calls for him. Shimei is put to death for his denial of the king’s mercy.
7:21 – Solomon has the temple of God built. The pillars are called Jachin and Boaz. “He will establish”, and “fleetness”/may consider it to also mean strength.
8:43 – Solomon dedicates the temple. He asks that God would answer those that call upon His name. That all people of the earth would know the name and power of the Lord God of Israel!
8:52 – Continuation of Solomon’s dedication. That God would open His eyes to the supplications of His servants. And that He would heed those who call upon His name.
9:13 – Solomon gave twenty cities to the king of Tyre in exchange for the supplies to build the temple of God and the house of the king. The king of Tyre was not pleased with them and called them the land of Cabul, which means “binding”.
12:3 – Jeroboam and the congregation of Israel calls to the king of Israel, Rehoboam, to discuss the taxes being levied on them. He refuses to lighten the taxes.
12:20 – Israel splits. Jeroboam is called and set as the king of Israel by the congregation of Israel. Only the Tribe of Judah followed the house of David.
16:24 – The purchase and building of the capital city of the northern kingdom of Israel. Continuous sin.
17:10 – Elijah calls to a widow and asks for water. Which she readily agrees to bring him.
17:11 – As she goes to do that, he asks for some food as well. She tells him she has very little left and she and her son are going to finish what they have, then die of starvation. Elijah tells her to not fear, and to make him some food then feed herself and her son. For God hath said that the little she has will not fail until rain comes again. And it was so.
18:3 – Obadiah, a faithful prophet of the Lord, is called before king Ahab to go search for food in the kingdom. Obadiah previously hid a hundred faithful prophets of the Lord from Jezebel.
18:24 – Elijah challenges the Prophets of Baal in front of the congregation of Israel. That they will call upon their gods, and Elijah will call upon his God, and the one that answers with fire will be God. The people agree that this is a good idea.
18:25 – Elijah tells the prophets of Baal to take a bullock and set it up for an offering, but put no fire under it, and call upon their gods to light and take the offering.
18:26 – They called and called and called and were not answered. Elijah mocks them. Then Elijah rebuilds the fallen alter of God, puts his own bullock on it, and has them pour four barrels of water on it. Three times. Then at the time of the evening sacrifice, Elijah prays to God, that He would make Himself know to these people. And the entire offering, the bullock, the wood, the stones, the dust and the water were all consumed by fire from heaven. And the people fell on their faces acknowledging God.
20:7 – The king of Syria tells Ahab to surrender to him. God send a prophet to Ahab telling him that God will deliver the Syrians into his hand that he would know that God is king.
22:9 – The king of Judah goes to help the king of Israel in battle and asks for a prophet of the Lord to be called. The king of Israel doesn’t want to do that, because the prophet of the Lord only says bad things about him. But he calls Micaiah the prophet anyway.
22:13 – The messenger sent to call Micaiah asks him to not speak ill of the king of Israel. Micaiah tells him, he will speak what the Lord tells him to speak.
