Genesis –
17:5 – God changes Abram’s name to Abraham. Identity comes from God. He speaks it into being.
17:15 – God renames Sarai to Sarah. Changing her identity.
17:19 – God declares that Sarah and Abraham will have a son named Issac. God issues His purpose to establish a covenant with Issac and his seed after him.
19:5 – The men of Sodom are after the angels that bringing Lot out. They call out to Lot.
19:22 – The name of the city that Lot and his daughters escape to is declared. Zoar/insignificant
19:37 – After the sordid affair with Lot’s daughters, the eldest gave birth to Moab, the father of the Moabites. Moab is named.
19:38 – The youngest gave birth to Benammi, the father of the Ammonites. The naming of Benammi.
20:8 – Abimelech calls his servants to hear what God has told him of the nature of Sarah and Abraham’s relationship.
20:9 – Abimelech then calls to Abraham to confront him with this information and find out why he would say such a thing.
21:3 – Abraham names Issac.
21:12 – God tells Abraham to listen to Sarah, for God has chosen Issac to fulfill His promise to Abraham. And to create His own people.
21:17 – God heard Ishmael and called to his mother, Hagar. God tells her to not fear, because God has heard the voice of the boy.
21:31 – The naming of Beersheba, where Abimelech and Abraham make a covenant with each other.
21:33 – Abraham planted trees and called upon God’s name. In worship.
22:11 – The angel of Lord calls to Abraham and Abraham answers.
22:14 – Abraham names the place where he offers up Issac as a sacrifice to God. But God provides a ram to take the place of Issac. He names it after the name of the Lord.
22:15 – The angel of Lord calls to Abraham again, and blesses him for offering his only son to God as God requested.
24:57 – The family of Rebekah decides to call her to see if she will go to Issac as his wife immediately.
24:58 – Rebekah is called to answer if she will go with the unnamed servant to Issac as his wife. And she says, yes.
25:25 – The naming of Esau.
25:26 –The naming of Jacob.
25:30 – Esau’s name is changed when he gives up his birthright.
26:9 – Issac does the same thing to Abimelech that his father Abraham did. He pretends that his wife is his sister.
26:18 – Issac digs again, the wells of Abraham and calls them by the same names.
26:20 – Herdsman are having quarrels and the well is renamed after the quarrel.
26:21 – Another well is dug and the same thing happens. The well is named.
26:22 – A third well is dug, but thankfully, there is no strife. This well is named. For Issac says that God has made room for his and his own in the land.
26:25 – Issac builds an alter to the Lord and calls upon His name. Another well is dug.
26:33 – The servants of Issac dug another well, and he names it.
