Lean Not On My Own Understanding

1 Corinthians –
7:1 – Restraint is good. It is good for a man to not touch a woman.
7:2 – But, God understands our humanity and our human weakness and has created marriage to provide a Godly and protected answer to that problem.
7:13 – If a woman becomes saved and her husband is not. If he is content to stay, don’t divorce him.
7:34 – An unmarried woman is more focused on God and His will, while a married woman must care for her husband and his wishes.
11:3 – The chain of command. Woman answers to man, man answers to Christ, and Christ answers to God.
11:5 – This verse, and the next, discuss a woman covering her head or uncovering her head. The common understanding for this is that it is in deference to the social norms of that time and place. Essentially saying, do not defy social norms for the sake of defying social norms. Head coverings were a protection for women in that culture. They would not be accosted if their heads were covered.
11:6 – See above.
11:7 – Continuation, also adds that woman is the glory of man as man is the glory of God. We avoid licentiousness for the sake of our husbands.
11:8 – Woman is of man and created for man. And not man for woman.
11:9 – See above.
11:10 – This is a very confusing passage for pretty much everyone. Women should be covered in power because of the angels?????
11:11 – We are equally valuable in the eyes of God, even with the chain of command in place.
11:12 – Woman exists out of man, but man is born of woman. And both are created by God.
11:13 – Propriety should be observed. We are witnesses, and bearers of the Name of God.
11:15 – Long hair is a glory to women. A gift.
