Ezra – 2:61 – A priest of the tribe of Levi took a Gileadite as a wife and was called their name. Nehemiah – 5:12 – Nehemiah called the priests and got them to promise that they would restore unto the people what had been extracted from them. A lot of them had gone into debt to pay the king’s tribute. 7:63 – This is a repeat of the section from Ezra. The priest who did this was removed from the inheritance (priesthood) as was his lineage.
